Located on the eastern edge of the Los Angeles metro area, the 2-mile, 565-acre speedway hosted three different races on its opening weekend in 1997. The California Speedway hosts two NASCAR Nextel Cup races annually and has also hosted the IndyCar Series, the ChampCar World Series and various motorcycle series.
