The Lions are one of the oldest teams in the NFL.  Originating as the Portsmouth, Ohio Spartans in 1930, they were later purchased and moved to the Motor City in 1934. The Lions won the NFL Championship in 1952, 1953 and 1957. The Thanksgiving Day game is the greatest tradition in Detroit Lions football.
